Originally from India, Dr. Bhandal developed an early interest in medicine through his work with the Indian Red Cross, where he organized blood donation camps, served rural communities, and contributed to the development of specialized dengue and malaria wards and a de-addiction center.
Moving to the United States was an unexpected turn in his journey. When his family relocated, he found himself adapting to a new country and healthcare system while continuing to pursue a career in medicine. He went on to complete his residency training in Internal Medicine at SJMC and serve as Chief Resident.
Dr. Bhandal is drawn to the problem-solving involved in complex medical care, but finds the greatest fulfillment in seeing that care translate into a tangible difference for his patients.
Outside of medicine, he is a devoted Manchester United fan and enjoys trekking and playing badminton. His sporting loyalties have recently expanded to include the 49ers, thanks to some convincing from his fiancée.
